Seven Virtues of Life
PERSONNEL: Cubmaster (Tr. Lan Pham), Graduating Webelos Scout (Chloe Do, Tom Pham, Linh Le, Tommy Luong, An-Nhien Huynh) and Parents.
MC: Leaders, Parents, honor guests, and scouts, today we assembled to honor the Webelos Scouts who have completed the requirements for Cub Scouting’s highest rank, the Arrow of Light. Let the ceremony begin!
(Start and play the Indian dance songs and wait for it to complete!)
Will Webelos Scouts (call each boy’s name) and his parents come to the front? (Boy and parents go to the front)
They have brought honor to our pack as they have climbed the Cub Scouting trail together. These Webelos Scouts are now ready to go join the great brotherhood Scouting.
With the help of their willing parents, they will soon begin the Boy Scout trail. The seven candles in front of you, represent the seven rays in the Arrow of Light. As they are lighted, you will hear how they stand for the seven great virtues of life.
WISDOM: Having wisdom doesn’t mean that one person is smarter another. It means that one will use what he knows to live a better life.
COURAGE: Courage does not mean you have any fear of danger. It means that you can face danger despite your fear.
SELF-CONTROL: Self-Control grants you the ability to stop when you have had enough of something, such as eating, playing, or even working too much.
JUSTICE: Justice means being fair with others whom we play and work with, regardless of who they are.
FAITH: Faith is the belief in God or Beings that we can’t see but feel in our hearts are true.
HOPE: Hope allows oneself to look forward to good things that they believe will happen. They hope for better things tomorrow, but at the same time, work hard today to make them happen.
LOVE: There are many kinds of love. Love of family, home, fellow men, God, and country. Love plays a key role for a complete and happy life
Cubmaster: Our Cub Scouts are guided to the highest ranking that one could achieve; the Arrow of Light. The seven rays of the Arrow of Light represent Wisdom, Courage, Self-control, Justice, Faith, Hope, and Love. You will find that if you live by these seven virtues, your life would be happier. It is now my pleasure to ask your parents to hand to you, your graduation certificates and the badge of Arrow of Light; it’s the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform. But, more importantly than the badge itself represents what you have learned, the accomplishments you have completed by helping others, and finally the fun you have had along your journey.
(Wait for the parents to hand them the book and badge)
Cubmaster: Parents please be seated!
Now, it is an honor for me to recognize you Webelos Scouts and to present you with these arrows (or plaques). Use this (arrow or plaque) to remind you of the good times we have had together in Pack 189. (Den leader presents the arrows or plaques.)
Cubmaster: Congratulations! Webelos, you have now completed your journey in our Pack. As you continue on your journey toward Boy Scouting, strive to serve as the shining example that your Arrow of Light represents.
Cubmaster: Inviting parent of AOL to speak
